| Thirteen Things TiggerPrr Loves about Halloween
I am almost positive that this isn’t an original idea for this week. Hopefully, my list will be original in some small way though.
1. Looking at the little kids in their costumes when they ring my doorbell. No, not in some weird sort of pervy way, but in a, “Gosh, I wish I could make Ashlyn be 4 again so I could dress her up all cute and in some form of animal ears” way.
2. “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. I can’t really commit to whether I think this is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie, so I just watch it both times of the year. Apparently, neither can the movie companies that release movies as the 3-D version started last week and ends its run around Christmas.
3. “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” This might be the cutest movie, ever. EVER! When those bunnies are howling at the moon, I had little cartoon hearts flowing from my head, I just know it.
4. Dressing up in costumes and being a little ghoulish. I haven’t had cause to dress up for several years though. One of my best memories was of my freshman year in college, the “gang” all dressed up and we went haunted house visiting. Way fun.
5. I detest scary movies. But on Halloween, it’s ok to watch “Halloween”. My daughter hadn’t seen any of the Halloween movies as of last year, so we went on a mad marathon of them. I was scared silly, but watched them anyway. How’s that for a good Mom? Or am I a bad Mom for letting her watch them? I digress.
6. When I am employed, usually in Human Resources. I love thinking of cool Halloween treats to give my employees. Since I am not presently employed, I don’t get this pleasure. I’ll have to make a treat for Hubby’s co-workers instead.
8. Helping Ashlyn choose a costume. OK, she’s 17 and I can’t make her dress in furry little animal costumes. So, it’s not the same fun as it used to be, but it’s a cooler fun. I just have to wade through all the hussy costumes they have out now in adult sizes.
9. To me, Halloween is the doorway to the holiday season. I love the holiday season since it involves preparing savory and nutritious meals for your family and friends. Well, savory anyway.
10. Halloween Candy. This is self-explanatory. ::Licks chocolate from her fingers::
11. Dressing the cats up in costumes. OK, I haven’t done this yet. But I want to and I know I’d love it even if they wouldn’t.
12. Decorating the house all Halloweeny. Tigger and Snoopy are prominent! I can’t wait ’til Halloween day so we can put those up. And of course, the family of Jack-o-lanterns one for each of us, including the cats. But, since they don’t have opposable thumbs, we have to paint/carve them on their behalf.
13. No Halloween is complete without a viewing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!”

Halloween is so much fun! My TT today is *kind of* related; it’s about a demon…sort of.

That was a different take on Halloween.
I am enjoying dressing up my six year old. I dread the day he turns seventeen. I hear it goes so quickly!
You’re a cool mom. I do not like scary movies, and I do not think I could even watch them with my child (when he’s 17).

Great list.
I don’t like horror movies, so I’ve never seen any of the Hallowe’en flicks. *blush*
Dressing up the cats could be fun.
I’ll have to try that next year when we have a kitty.
Happy TT.

We live in a condo with no children (except teens). No trick-or-treaters either. Our son said we could come to his house–we laughed and laughed.
Thanks for visiting my TT

LOL Norma…that really did make me laugh out loud.

I had to stop by when I saw the name of your blog because…I talk to a tiger on mine. No joke.
On Halloween, I used to always make my kids costumes. One of my best ones (because I didn’t like the scary stuff) was I made my daughter into a flower pot - her head was a flower. This was long before the Anne Getties days (too bad I didn’t pattern my idea).
I like yours.

Trick or Treating isn’t the same as it was when I was growing up. It’s a shame but I know the reasons for it. I think I had all of 30 people ring my doorbell last year. I was decorating the house all up and wearing my monster costume for a number of years but it was a lot of effort for so little people. Now, Halloween Partys? That’s a different story.

Great list! I love Halloween, it is the only holiday I celebrate.

LOVED Wallace and Gromit! Thanks for reminding me of that one. Great list!

I just love Halloween! Great list!!

Okay, my human considered dressing me up. However we compromised. She dressed me via photoshop…

My oldest daughter wants to dress up her kitty this year. I’m not a big horror fan, but I’ll watch Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin every year!
Cute list.

Amazingly, this is the first time in a long time I dont hate Halloween

The scariest thing on your list was dressing up the cats. That seems terrifying to me! The blood, the screaming, the mayhem . . .

Hahaha….well OC…is like a tiny dog in a cat suit. He a lap cat, and just loves to be held and cuddled. He has stomatitis (A really sad disease I’ll blog in detail about sometime) and has to get medicine every 3rd day and 1 week out of the month. All we have to do is shake the pll bottle, and he comes running to us to get his meds. It’s almost as if he knows it makes him feel better. So I think a little costume hat would be ok…maybe. LOL Hmmm…maybe I should get him a tiny dog costume.

Gosh… Dread… Gosh Again!
I can’t quite remember what you wore for Halloween when you were a Freshman at UCA.
I can almost picture it, but the brain cells aren’t very active today.
I do remember what I was wearing and I think I can recall how Morizot was dressed, but the rest isn’t coming to mind at the moment.
Help Please!!!

Brian - I was an elviraesque Vampire
Which is my favorite thing to be. IIRC you were also a vampire weren’t you? Or am I getting old? Wait, don’t answer that!
October 28th, 2006 at 9:10 am
Ammy,
You are younger than me (And I only admit to 27!) so you are definitely not getting old!!!
Yes! You are right I was dressed as a vampire as well. I had a LOT of fun putting together the hair style and makeup for that costume.
Question of the day: What was Jody dressed as???
Just about everyone thought I looked better with my hair sprayed with some “White Hairspray” for the salt and pepper effect and people seemed to like the makeup job that I did to make myself look spooky.
And that was the first time that I ever watched “The Nightmare on Elm Street” at all. I can’t remember the name of the video store I rented it from, but I can recall that I got it two weeks before the party to make sure that we could get a copy.
I didn’t like the rest of the movies in that series much, but the first one had a lot more suspense along with the gore.
That night was a Ton of Fun and it is among my list of days that I would love to visit again if I had a time machine. Now if I could just borrow the Tardis from “Doctor Who†and…
