5 (More) Things You May Not Know About Me

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Mary over at Almost Somewhat Positive tagged me for this one…I did it last week, but I’ll give you 5 more little things about me, because I like to do as I’m told! Hehe

1) I (along with hubby) am a big movie buff, our DVD collection just passed the 500 DVD mark.

2) I am especially fond of Martial Arts and Godzilla movies.

3) I really, REALLY, hate Forest Gump. I think it was ridiculously overrated and did not cry. The hubby and daughter ALWAYS make me watch this thing if it’s on, and will even sometimes throw the DVD in at random just to hear me whine.

4) I have memories going back to being in the crib and can remember how chewing on teething toys felt.

5) Once I’ve decided something has a home in a certain spot, it drives me nuts for it to be out of place. This is how I know my family is trying to drive me insane. They’re always moving stuff!

Since it’s New Year’s Eve, I won’t tag anyone! But if you haven’t done this one and would like to, please do! But, you gotta come back and tell me you did so I can come read yours.

Bye, Bye 2006! Helllllooooo 2007!

It’s hard to believe that exactly 1 year ago today, my family was enjoying a fun filled day at Epcot among what seemed like a million other people.

Doing the Robot:

Not that I'd Ever Want to Embarrass the Kids

So much has happened this year, and it went by so fast. I see the speed at which time is seeming to accelerate as a sign of my aging. When you’re really young, you never believe people that tell you that the older you get, the faster it goes. But my how it does.

What Should Chey Do 2007?

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

Chey is holding a contest to compile her list of New Year’s Resolutions for 2007. She’s offering some very cool prizes, most importantly, sponsorship of homeless kitties staying at the Best Friends Sanctuary.

After extensive consultations with my Feline Political Action Committee, we’ve determined the following Resolutions are appropriate for anycat considering a run for office:

Friday’s Feast 124 - New Year’s Edition

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Appetizer - How do you usually celebrate on New Year’s Eve?
Usually, we ring it in at home. We’re not big on huge parties and neither of us drink. Honestly, I don’t like driving when I know the number of drunk drivers has exponentially risen. Though we did ring in New Years 2006 at Epcot in Orlando, that was a big experience. Loved it.

Soup - Name one thing unexpected that happened to you in 2006.
We finally bought a home.

Salad - Where was your favorite place that you visited in 2006?
I would say that was our farewell trip to Chicago before we moved to Myrtle Beach. I love Chicago, and I’ll miss our trips there to go shopping and eating.

Main Course - What resolution is your top priority for 2007?
Finding a job here in Myrtle Beach in my field. I am a Human Resources Manager by profession and haven’t had a lot of luck yet. Yes, I am haunted by the irony in that.

Dessert -Using just three words, describe 2006.
Change is perpetual.

Please take a moment to go visit my renter, New York Nitty Gritty. He’s an excellent photographer who captures some interesting views of a city so rich in history that it’s a character all by itself. You can reach his page by clicking the thumbnail to the right.

As a reminder: Kelly over at Pass the Torch is raising funds for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The really great thing is, you can help her out with this and it won’t cost you a thing! Her corporate sponsor, Empowering Youth, will donate $1 per comment she receives to St. Jude’s (up to $500). You can leave 1 comment per day for the next couple of days.

Wacky Things Happen If You Spend the Night in a Museum!

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

My husband and I decided to go see a movie today. There’s a few out that I want to see, and luckily for him, Dreamgirls isn’t released in Myrtle Beach yet. He says he’ll only go see that one with me, “if I’m feeling REALLY sleepy.” He suggested Ben Stiller’s new movie, “Night at the Museum“. We’d seen the previews for this one earlier this year, I thought it looked cute, so I agreed.

Let me tell you, it’s one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a very long time, possibly years. It’s definitely the best family-type movie I’ve seen in years. Happily, I can recommend it for family members of all ages. I thought I’d enjoy it, but I had no idea how much. Ken even remarked that he hasn’t heard me laugh that much at a movie in a long time and thought I was going to snort a few times.

Go see this movie! I think you’ll be glad you did. :)

Thirteen CD’s that tiggerprr Has Uploaded So Far

The hubby may have outdid his Coach purse-buying self at Christmas. I got, among other things, a 30gig Video iPod. So, I’ve been ripping CDs for most of the day. Here’s a random list of thirteen of them:

1. Asia - “Asia”
2. Babyface - “The Day”
3. Blue Oyster Cult - “Fire of Unknown Origin
4. Celine Dion - “All the Way - A Decade of Song
5. Clint Black - “One Emotion
6. Fergie - “The Duchess” (Say what you will about her choices for singles to release, but she really shines on a lot of this CD, IMO.)
7. Fiona Apple - “Tidal
8. Howard Jones - “The Best of Howard Jones” I loves me some HoJo!
9. Oingo Boingo - “Deadman’s Party
10. Queensryche - “Empire
11. Rascal Flatts - “Feels Like Today
12. Toni Braxton - “Toni Braxton
13. Hole - “Celebrity Skin

Hopefully that little sampling will highlight the diversity of my musical tastes. Hehe.
