I have a confession…
It’s so startling, I may get kicked out of the Girl Club, forever. I am almost, ashamed. It’s so embarassing, I’ve put off blogging about it for over 10 days. But I can no longer deny the event occurred and must bare my soul to you now.
Like most females, I have a problem with handbags. I love them. I want them in all sizes, colors, makes, models, brands. I have tons of them, yes with matching wallets. If your husband or significant other is like mine, he doesn’t understand the need to have coordinating accessories. This is why, more often than not, WE dress them for special occasions, isn’t it? I digress, this isn’t my confession. If it were, there would be a resounding “Well Duh!” heard round the world.
For a lot of gals, me for sure, the Holy Grail of Handbags is the Coach bag. Any. Coach. Bag. Despite my love for them, I’ve never bought one. I just could never bring myself to do it. Much like Ralphie in “A Christmas Story”, I’d drag poor hubby to the Coach store every time we’re at the mall and I’d dream of having one.
You see, my anniversary was on December 1st. It was our third anniversary, which means that it’s the “leather” anniversary. I bought him the shoes that he keeps looking at but never buys for himself. (Real exciting, huh?) This is what he did for me…and is the heart of my confession:
The husband, took me to the Coach store and told me, “Just pick one.” That “WHAP” sound you just heard was husbands around the world smacking their foreheads, in unison. I froze. “Nooooooo!!!”, I say. “Yes!”, he says. Immediately, I am thinking of all the things we “need” for our house, the cat condo I would like to get our cats, you know the drill. He insists. So I circle the store, admiring, but it’s different this time. I know I can have any one of them, any. one. at. all. So I have to confess, I COULD NOT DECIDE! I am an utter failure at being a Handbag W****. I should be shot. After all those years of coveting, when faced with getting exactly what I want, I couldn’t do it. I feel like the anti-girly girl.
But the story happily doesn’t end there. He took me not only to that store, but the other Coach store, Dillards and Belks with the same restriction: “Any one you want.” We finally ended up back at the first Coach store, and I came home with my new purse! I got one in a color I don’t normally get, in a much larger size than normal, because I’ve been wanting a “mom purse” that will hold more stuff. I’m very happy with it… and here it is:

That’s gotta be good for a year’s worth of lovin’, don’t you think?
I can’t wait for Christmas!

Wow…That IS a nice handbag! GORJ!!! I’m not like other women because I don’t have this purse problem….I don’t buy things that are all-leather because I feel like I’m holding a dead animal (sorry…it’s a quirk of mine…I don’t judge anyone else, though — see, I’m LOVING your handbag!!).

Thanks for the compliment on the bag!
And I feel bad about the animal thing.
I know that wasn’t your goal but I do feel guilt. I’d be a vegetarian actually…if I wouldn’t starve to death because I hate most veggies.

Yep, us guys are clueless. My wife has given up hope on me when it comes to picking good presents. This year, she just handed me a list of things she wanted from a place called La Mer Online. Never heard of the site and I have no idea why the lotion and creme are so expensive.

OMG! That is a gorgeous handbag! I love Coach, too! Well, I love D&B, Prada, Chanel, LV, Burberry, etc.
What a wonderful husband you have! I hope guys all around the world learned a valuable lesson from him!

Yeah, I was pretty surprised. I love D&B too, in fact while we were at Dillards, hubby found a D&B purse that was REALLY soft leather (Sorry, Haley-O!
) and called out to me and made me come feel it. Then he unzipped it and noted that the opening wasn’t very large for a purse of that size and might cause issues getting stuff in and out. (Can you tell he’s an engineer? LOL)

May I speak to hubby about this totally unmale thing he did?
LOL

Okay, I’ve only been reading your blog for a a few weeks, and I totally missed this post, but because of your Christmas gift post, I had to look this one up.
I am SO TOTALLY JEALOUS of you on this one. My husband has threatened to throw me out if I bring home another purse or bag. I am 100% totally queer about bags — gotta have them, need to have them.
It’s like my shoe obsession — gotta have ‘em. I love purses, tote bags, gift bags, etc., etc.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your Coach bag. And I am so totally envious — good for you!
