Thursday Thirteen #20/76

Thirteen Things that tiggerprr Would Like to See/Do Before She Dies

1. The Louvre Museum and Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. We’d have to go to see Jim Morrison’s gravesite while there for Ashlyn. She’s such a late flower child. Actually, I just want to go see the whole city! And I hope that if we do ever get to go there, that our friend Xav will be able to be with us so we can see the city through a native’s eyes. That would be really nice. :)
2. I’d like to go back to Tokyo, Japan. I spent a lot of my childhood there, met my husband there when we were rotten teenagers and half of my family lives there since my Mom is Japanese. I’m due for some authentic Japanese food, it’s been 25 years since I lived there.
3. Stonehenge.
4. I want to kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland, while visiting the rest of the country too!
5. I’d like to see a “real” castle. It shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish that one while in Europe. Eddie Izzard says everyone has one have one over there. I’ll even bring a flag.
6. Visit a Tibetian Monastery. This is one of the Hubby’s Do Before I Die desires, but I’m putting it on here to prove that I really do listen to him. And, I think it would be really cool to do too.
7. The Great Wall of China. It looks so cool in pictures, I’d like to see and stand on the real thing.
8. Washington, D.C. – Notable places to see: The Lincoln Memorial, The Smithsonian Institute, The Library of Congress, The White House. All of that historical/patriotic stuff!
9. Hawaii. The Hubby and I agree that this is one place we definitely want to visit. Visiting An Island Life and looking at all of her gorgeous pictures reminds me of that all the time!
10. Mt. Rushmore. We really should have done this when we lived in Iowa. But we didn’t, so it’s still on my “list”. Gotta see those giant heads!
11. I would like to hug a big giant tree.
12. Would you believe, that I’ve been to Las Vegas 4 times and have never visited The Grand Canyon!?
13. St. Lucia. It’s so green and looks so beautiful. I want to go there and just veg out.

These are just 13 of the things I’d like to see or do. I could think of many others I’m sure. I wonder how many I’ll get to before I’m too old to do it? We’ll see!

A lot of those are on my list of having been done or things that I want to get done! :)

  2. Christine Says:

The Grand Canyon couldn’t compare to Hawaii, but it is breathtaking. I’d love to go to Europe,to Paris and see Stonehenge too. :)

  3. Brian Says:

A LOT of the places on your list would be on my list as well.

I highly recommend Washington, DC, even though I have to go there 4 or 5 times a year for meetings and should be completely burned out by now. There seems to always be something else to see or visit again when I go each year.

The Grand Canyon is great, but I developed my fear of railings, because someone jokingly pushed me when I was there. I was only 5, so the fear stuck!

A bunch of people don’t think that Jim Morrison is actually buried in Paris. I’ve seen band members talk about their doubts and it would be interesting if just one of history’s lost songsmiths actually faked his own death.

On castles: Be careful. If you take the kind of flag that Eddie Izzard talks about, you might be laying claim to it and then you would have to pay all the bills. That doesn’t sound like much fun, and you could always ask Jane Seymour how bad that is, since owning a small one almost bankrupted her!

  4. Kaze Says:

Great list!! The Lap Lady is in agreement with most of those. I actually came from Washington, DC, that’s where I was breed and born.

Great list! All wonderful things to see and do at some point. Paris is amazing and so is Hawaii, although in very different ways! And lots of castles to visit here in Europe – we’ve already seen a few here in Germany. I hope to visit Stonehenge and the Grand Canyon some day.

    Happy T13. :)

  8. Mary (mert) Says:

  10. Zeus Says:

I would love to go to lots of these places too. There’s lots of history and culture out there, waiting to be explored, and the poor Travel Channel just isn’t doing it for me anymore. I feel you on this, tigerprr, I really do.

    Happy Thursday to you!

  11. kimo & sabi Says:

Better get busy! Mommakitty says the Grand Canyon is beee-yyy-teeee-ful! Except don’t go when it’s too hot, or during lightening storms!

  12. Ma Says:

Great list of 13. I would love to visit Japan too since that is where my maternal grandparents were from. And i’d like to visit the Grand Canyon. I’m meeting my family in Los Angeles in April to go to the most magical place in the USA, Disneyland. Then I will fly home to Hawaii with them. I’ve been to California before, but this will be the first time for my 4 year old granddaughter. So it’s going to be wonderful going with the whole family.

Thanks for stopping by. And yes it is ramen, but in Hawaii we call it saimin. Oishi desu!

  13. Kukka-Maria Says:

My Agent has seen Mt. Rushmore and The Grand Canyon, but none of the others.

She really needs to get out more!

    Great list! Happy TT!

  14. Marcia Says:

I’ve been to Vegas twice and not gotten to see the Grand Canyon. Hope you get to see everything on your list.

once you go to Hawaii, you may never want to go any place else

Maybe Local Girl would adopt me, she throws really bitchin’ birthday parties!

  18. Jenny Ryan Says:

I’m putting it on here to prove that I really do listen to him.

  19. Desert Songbird Says:

Girl, you come on out to the Grand Canyon state, and I’ll drive you up there personally!

I’m with you on the Washington DC thing — I love that place.

If you go to Ireland, will you take me with you?!

Wouldn’t that be fun!? And of course you can go to Ireland! :)

  20. racy li Says:

I hope you get back to Tokyo. I LOVED Tokyo when I was there. When I think futuristic science fiction cities, I always think of Tokyo.

What a great list! I think everyone should travel more!

  21. MarillaAnne Says:

Sigh … me too … a perfectly lovely list!!

  22. s@m Says:

Great list! Most of those would be on mine too!

  23. she Says:

I love visiting Japan. I’m a little disappointed that I’ll only have a few hours in the airport there this trip through Asia.

Paris is always a great place to visit.

I have the best memories of visiting Stonehenge with my dad the year we toured Britain when my parents were considering moving back home (they chose to stay in Canada in the end).

  24. Gette Says:

Make sure to see Crazy Horse when you do Rushmore, and go to the Cosmos “Mystery Zone.” There are lots of cool things to see in the Black Hills, and none of them really take all day. We live in Minnesota, so its a great long weekend trip for us. This year Winnipeg!

  25. Stacy Says:

Wow, great list of places, and many, many of those are on my list as well. We marked off Washington DC a little over a year ago and I can definitely say we really enjoyed it. If you like history or museums, you should go! :)

  26. Bubba Says:

I agree with all of them! And don’t feel bad about not visiting the Grand Canyon…I’ve lived in Arizona for five years and still haven’t been.

    Happy TT!
