24 – Day 6.6 – There be Spoilers Ahead
You have been warned! Don’t clicky the link if you don’t want to be spoiled! I won’t be held responsible for your deep seated feelings of regret and remorse if you click and then need therapy for your weakness!
OK then! Last week, I didn’t really post my take because Ashlyn didn’t watch it with us and she’s one of the above-referenced weaklings and wouldn’t have been able to stop herself. So being a good Mom, I removed the temptation. Though, that may make me a bad Mom since she’ll soon be out in the world without her Mom to remove temptations…Ahhhhh, I digress.
So, I was totally shocked to find that Graham of the Bluetooth Gang (BTG) is Jack’s brother. It even inspired me to say a few choice words and then sit there with my mouth hung open. I did not see that one comng. I do have to say I got a little sadistic pleasure from seeing Jack just pop him one. He so deserved it. And may I say, I love Jack when he’s so intense. Whiny Brother: Yoooou’re hurting me!! ::cry cry pout pout whine whine!:: Jack: Trust me, I’m not. I cackled, I didn’t chuckle, I didn’t laugh, I cackled.
Moving on to this week…
The first few episodes despite some slow story building moments along the way were for the most part, jaw-dropping and action packed IMO. This one while still excellent, allowed me to breath for the most part. I appreciate that. LOL That’s not to say emotional or important things didn’t happen, they did.
I am so infuriated at that Tom Lennox guy. He is this year’s annoying government idiot. I am also kind of mad at Karen. She’s stronger than that, and I don’t understand why she didn’t just go to President Palmer. Who knows what agenda this guy has, if he’s bad, or just simply power hungry. It’s important to remember, even in the fictional realm of 24, that people who are power hungry sometimes honestly believe they’re acting in the best interest of those they are trying to protect. And then there are some that are just power hungry a$$hats. I’m leaning towards the latter for him. I just don’t know why.
President Wayne Palmer has giant man shoes to fill in the shadow of his ::sigh:: deceased brother. He is obviously not David, but I think a lot of David is in there, and I hope we’ll get to see him embrace his power and his strengths as the season unfolds. Right now, he just seems troubled and a little fish out of water-ish. He needs Karen, and I wish she’d have told him what’s up, especially if she did nothing wrong. I would have fought all that a little harder. Then again, some of the best work on 24 is done covertly. LOL
I don’t buy that the detainees in the camp are all innocent, not for one little second. I know they are using that scenario to illustrate some of the madness that can occur when power is abused and mirroring what may or may not be happening in our “detainee” camps. However, I do think that it’s not entirely impossible that the “innocent” website that they were going to has some sort of messages in it. Or maybe I’ve just seen one too many Hannibal Lecter movies where people are using codes in “The Joy of Cooking” and “The National Tattler”. ::shrugs::
I wish we knew just how much Jack really knows about his brother and his involvement with the Chinese and all. I suppose that will unfold but really, I just want Jack to hurt the little man. I really do! Isn’t that awful? I was relieved to discover that Daddy Bauer may not be bad after all, though, that may be reversed at any time as we all well know. I just wonder if at the end of the season he’ll say, “That’ll do, Jack, that’ll do.”
What do you all think?

Oh, I think Jack is considerably smarter than his brudder thinks. But I think his dad miscalculated and seriously underestimates his evil son, Graham. The only thing that bothered me last night was that I don’t believe Karen would have backed down that easy. I think she should have told Wayne that Tom was trying to blackmail her out of position for his own personal agenda, even if not to let him know why to at least throw up the flare that Wayne’s got something bigger to worry about. 24 is good at throwing twists, like last season you spent the first half believing that the staff who supposedly committed suicide was really a bad guy only to find out he was a puppet and pawn to the BTG (love that name BTW) just like the President. I don’t know what the little whelp is really up to, but I don’t like him and I think that’s the goal of the writers for now. ;o) Alas, another whole week before I get my 24 fix. *sigh*

**stumbling about with hands over eyes so not to get spoiled**
Oh rats! I’ll have to come back to this one later after I watch my tape.
LOL I warned you!! Bad, bad Travis!

I watched it finally – dang! I was busy and then I was sick, and then I almost forgot!! Horrors!!
Graham is a weasel. Tom is a snake. It’s too early in the show for Karen to show the backbone we know she has. She’ll get out west with Bill and they’ll get organized.
Morris needs more to do – I like that guy! What’s up with Chloe? She’s seeming a little weak – not like last season at all.
I’m still pleased with the portayal of the detainee camps. The writers are doing a decent job of emphasizing how fear can enhance prejudice and turn it quickly into well-meaning persecution based on racial profiling. The thing that will really make this storyline work is to have Muslims play a major role in bringing the terrorists to justice. Not to be used like Wahlid, but to actively assist despite bigotry and fear.
Oh wait…there I go again…taking this stuff too seriously.
**note to self: it’s just TV!!**

You may be right about it being too early for Karen to be as ballsy as we know she can be. But, I really wanted her to grab Tom by his sneaky little earlobe, twist it and give him the what for. I really, really did. LOL
Morris is amusing. Chloe, I don’t know it’s so much weakness but that the things she saw last season added to Jack being taken by the Chinese have probably shaken her psyche to its very core. This would change a person I think.
I agree that it’s hard not to take it too seriously, I know I do. But that’s a sign of stellar writing and acting.
