My ISP is Trying My Patience…
On Monday night, my ISP (Internet Service Provider), unrolled a big change to our internet service in order to “improve” our service. Tuesday Morning, my internet connection was dead, I called them, several hours later we’re up. Wednesday finds my connection broken again, I call them, they run me through the usual, power off/on all the equipment, it’s still broken intermittently and they’re going to submit a work order to the “Network Dept.” I wake today, it’s broken…again. I call them…again. They work on it…again. The Tech guy comes over and says he “thinks” he got it fixed and leaves after testing our signal strength. An hour later, just after I pressed Publish on my TT post, it’s deader than it’s been yet. I call them…again. I yell at them…again. They say they’ll have to submit a work order to Network…again, placing me at the bottom of the work order queue…again. This is 2pm.
It’s still dead at a quarter of 5 when I have to leave to get Ashlyn. We arrive home later, it’s still dead. I call them…again. I question them as to what exactly I’m getting for the money I’ve given them. I demand to have some answers. The supervisor offers to submit a “priority” work order. I ponder what happened to my 2pm work order…he says “Oh! I see that one too.” I tell him that along with my bowl of cereal in the morning, I’d like to have a cable repair dude at my door. He tries to placate me with the “everyone” in your area is having issues. I suggest that their “improvement” was anything but, since I don’t have any service at all. And furthermore, I couldn’t care less about everyone else’s issues, I care only about mine and when are they going to be resolved. He says he’s putting that priority order in, and is that ok? No, Mr. Placator, it’s not okay, I am not okay but I have to accept it, because that’s all you’re going to do. He chuckled, as if I were trying to be funny. Rat Bas**rd.
So, here I am, ranting on my hubby’s laptop using his wireless card thingy hooked up to something allowing me to get to the internets. Hopefully they will get me fixed tomorrow, or I’ll be tearing someone a new one…and it won’t be pretty. In the meantime, if I haven’t managed to get to you today, I’ll be by as soon as possible when they decide to unbreak my connection.
I sure wish I could be playing WoW right now, I could use the stress relief that killing dragons and assorted other virtual baddies provides.

Tear ‘em a new one, girl! I had a run in with someone at church tonight (yes – at church!!!!), and I had to turn and walk away before I ripped her a new one.
Ugh.
Hope it gets resolved soon!

Good for you for speaking up! I was thinking the same thing… you are paying for a service!

Most of my problems are with the web hosting company. I had to move twice already and I’m hoping third time is the charm. I guess I know who I want to represent me next time I have problems with my web host or ISP.

I do not envy the placating guy if your internet connection continues to break.

I hope all your internet problems get ironed out soon – that’s so irritating (Mom says).

You should ask for a refund for the time you didn’t get while they’re straightening this out. And ask for some kind of compensation for the time spent fussing at them.
My wireless gets cut off all the time where I live now. It never done that at the last place. At least there’s like 5 other people that live near me with unsecured wireless networks set up. That’s probably illegal or something though.
I hope your Internet is working again soon.

Ah, I recall those days. We had a problem similar to that about 18 months ago. I seem to recall a lot of frustration and swearing when an hour after it was “fixed” it was down again. On repair person tried to tell us everything was fine and it was an issue with our computer. We’re on cable and so the Woman asked by the television wasn’t working either. He said he knew nothing about the television but the computer cable was fine and the issue was the computer… .?
I hid under the bed for that rant…

I’m seriously thinking of changing my ISP. My internet connection has been on and off a lot lately. It’s great that you’re getting on them to fix it. Otherwise, who knows how long it would take! Don’t they know how important blogging is?
