tiggerprr takes on the American Idol Top 10 Girls and the Results Show

Ok, I think there’s some real contenders among the girls, and some really sucky girls…I mean…really, REALLY sucky. This review is late, because I’ve been busy. :/

Here’s my thoughts on their performances, followed by my thoughts about the results this week…

1) Gina Glocksen - “Alone” by Heart - Firstly, I hated her dress. She looked like a red sausage. I think she’s got some talent, but she really needs not to oversing so much IMO. I don’t foresee her winning the big prize.

2) Alaina Alexander - “Not Ready to Make Nice” by The Dixie Chicks - OMG if you’re going to sing the Dixie Chicks…well… be a better singer than that. Go home! (She did!)

3) Lakisha Jones - “Midnight Train To Georgia” by Gladys Knight and the Pips - She’s wonderful to listen to!!

4) Melinda Doolittle - “My Funny Valentine” By virtually all the crooners and Constantine “Creepy Eyes” Maroulis - She was excellent, I don’t even like this song and I loved her version.

5) Antonella Barba - “Because You Loved Me” by Celine Dion - Girl, please. I am convinced that people don’t actually watch this show before they audition for it. Celine, Whitney, Mariah or Christina…unless you have those kind of pipes…leave their songs alone! GO HOME! (She didn’t. Boo, hiss.)

6) Jordin Sparks - “Reflection” by Christina Aguilera - I thought it was a little shaky, definitely not the best she could do, but I think she was choked up. I like this girl a lot, amazing talent for her age, as the judges said.

7) Stephanie Edwards - “Dangerously In Love” by Beyonce - I loved it, I really thought she sounded very good. Despite sounding like Beyonce, which I don’t think was a negative unlike Simon.

8. Leslie Hunt - Feelin’ Good that same song that AJ sang (WHY!?) - I didn’t like this song. I would have loved for her to stick around. I bet she could really sing “Kiss me Deadly” by Lita Ford really well. The world will never know. ::waves::

9. Haley Scarnato - “Queen of the Night” by Whitney Houston - Ashlyn commented that when she hears this song she always thinks of that silver outfit that Whitney wore in “The Bodyguard” when she sings this song. Thank goodness Haley opted for more subdued clothing, LOL. I thought that Haley’s performance was very manic. She’s got a good voice, but at this moment, she’s trying too hard. She should just sing. Also, is it just me? Or do any of you think she’d be really awesome singing as one of the princesses at Disneyworld? I can totally see her as Belle or in a red wig, being Ariel. Just sayin’. hehe

10. Sabrina Sloane - “All the Man that I Need” by Whitney Houston - I thought she was good. Definitely one of the best in the competition. Again, I’d be really happy if people would stay away from the Whitney, et al. They seem to set themselves up for comparisons, and a really good singer could lose their luster when being compared to the bigger voices out there.

Girl Results:
Should have gone home (girls): Antonella Barba and Alaina Alexander
Did go home: Leslie Hunt and Alaina Alexander

Boy Results:
tiggerprr’s predictions were:
Should go home: Sanjaya Malakar and Sundance Head
Will Go Home: Sanjaya Malakar and either Nick Pedro or Jared Cotter
Did Go Home: AJ Tabaldo and Nick Pedro

People, quit pandering to the website which shall not be named….vote for talent…not to screw with the system, not because someone has a hot hiney or whatever… Antonella is way out of her league and while Leslie wouldn’t have won it, she shouldn’t have been out at this stage of the game. Sundance sand the same 2 words (if you could that he said “Ride” twice…) WTH!?!?! And Sanjaya? What-the-heck-ever!

I am not happy with this season much…I’m debating even watching…but I probably will…I am not moved to vote.

Oh…and…is it just me…or… did Kelly Pickler look like a total mess or what? I hated her hair, her dress was made at the same sausage factory that they got Gina Glocksen’s sausage casing from and my God, that woman has clearly bought herself a new rack. She looked like she was channeling Tammy Wynette circa 1970. Bleh. And I’m sure that Ryan was talking about her boobs when he kept asking her if the shoes were all she’s bought. What do you think?

    Meooooooooooow and Hiss!

Antonella totally escaped because of her notoriety of wet t-shirt pics…rumored that Hef wants her in his rag when she gets voted off.

Nick was good - I’m surprised he and AJ got the boot this early. You are right about no talent but big name Sundance Head. What do fans see? Our local fox station voted him fave male this week! Ugh.

Has anyone sang as bad on last song as Alaina? Gee! How embarrassing!

And please, its been 2 years and Constantine has proven himself in theater community by being talented and a team player in Wedding Singer and Brel. He’s a sweetie and we are looking forward to HIS CD this June!

Ahhh don’t get me wrong, I loved his singing..and was very bummed when he got booted off…just hated when he made with the goo goo eye at the camera…was a little cheesy.

Ryan Seacrest reminds everyone to “vote for your favorite”. He doesn’t tell them to vote for the best singer, which would be a subjective thing anyway because we may not all agree on who is the best singer.

I wish it were different. I wish the powers that be would put through only good singers and stop looking for “stories”. But, it’s a reality show first and a singing competition second.

As long as they continue to feed off the ratings frenzy created by showing train wreck audtions, the show will be what it is. And sites like VFTW will continue to champion the finalist they think will most annoy the powers that be.

That said, there are several outstanding talents - Melinda, LaKisha, Stephanie, Sabrina…and a case can be made for Jordin who only lacks experience.

As for the guys - there will be six of them cause that’s the rules. But I can’t see a guy winning this season. Not unless they get a lot better.

I am from the part of the world where Sanjaya’s family is from and so was hoping he would do well. Well he is - but honestly, he sucks. I can’t believe he has got this far. What’s wrong with the ones that vote. He has NO talent and really he sucks. He made Barba look good and she is really bad. I just hate to think he is taking the place of someone who should be there and is good. When he said he was shocked - If he had any honor he should have said - STOP - I should be kicked out and let the other guy go thru - he was better. HONOR ???? whats that right ??? Ahh well he ain’t gonna win any way so let’s just put up with him and have a good laugh each week.

Of course Ryan was referring to her new endowment. And that hairdo and make-up was awful. She looks like she aged 20 years! She’s definitely no longer that innocent little farm girl she used to be.

Alaina and Leslie were my two least favorite performances. I’m kind of sad that AJ left. I knew he wouldn’t win but I would have liked to have heard more of his singing.

  5. Cheysuli Says:

I am totally convinced that the only reason the cute young kids (Anotnella and Sanjaya) are still there is because they are cute young kids… They just aren’t performing up to the standards of the others on there.

  6. Julie Says:

Ohmygoodness Tiggerprr….your final couple paragraphs had me rolling! WOW!

I really enjoyed Leslie….she had an interesting albeit quite spunk about her….I’ll miss her.

i’m not normally a “weeper” yet this freakin’ menopause may MAKE me that way…but I teared up at the accolades given to Melinda! I think she was blown away and that was too cool!

I look forward to your next review!

  7. Mike Says:

I really want Sanjaya Malakar to be eliminated in American Idol, I dont like his voice ever.
