American Idol - Bee Gees Week

Well…..

I thought Melinda was her usual self this week. Kind of like the judges said, she’s always technically perfect. But she is suffering from a bit of “meh” to me. Still like her, just not the most.

I thought that the judges were unnecessarily harsh on Blake. It’s as if they want to craft a Melinda-Jordin final and I refuse to be manipulated like that. Hubby hated him, as par for the course. I thought he was good, not like last week, but I really liked his second song, even though I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Bee Gees version. Hubby probably has though….HE saw the Bee Gees in concert in the ’70s with his Mom! ::cackles gleefully::

Lakeshia - /bye.

Jordin - I really think she’s this year’s winner. We’ll see!

Ummmmm…were any of you totally distracted by Barry Gibb’s teeth? They looked unnatural… almost like Wallace and Gromit teeth to me.

The themes this year have not been very exciting to me. While I have been impressed by some of the guest mentors…the themes have seemed a bit bleh.

You know I don’t watch this show, and you KNOW I’m pulling for Jordin (who’s not only from my hometown but from my neighborhood as well!). But from what I have read here and over at The Couch, I’m less inclined to watch this more than before. I mean, c’mon - BARRY GIBB?!?!?!? And Jennifer freakin’ Lopez? WTF?!?!?!?!?! Blech…

I haven’t really watched AI in previous years (except for Season 1) but I agree that a lot of the themes I have seen on there this season are meh at best. Especially Bee-Gees night. YUCK! I mean, seriously. Last night was one of the least enjoyable episodes I’ve seen to date!! The JLo episode looks great in comparison…

ROFL - Yes, I think you nailed most of it right down to the Wallace & Gromit comment. *wink* I’m glad that of the 4 left that Lakeshia went home. I’m pulling for a Blake/Jordin show down but don’t know where the fan line falls between Melinda and Blake right now. I hope Jordin takes it because of all the contestants she would benefit most from the AI title and package as winner. Melinda and Blake have careers now no matter what and they’re older with more experience so don’t need as much support. I’m just so glad that Sanjaya isn’t in the top 4. I’ve been really disappointed with the themes this year - I knew this week’s performances would be barely there based on such a styalized theme….again this season. I kind of wish they’d let the contestants always choose their songs and take the individual insights from guests without forcing them into choosing songs within the guest’s framework. But that’s just me.

    Hugs,
    Holly

    TOTALLY Wallace and Gromit!

I’m sorry but I just don’t like Blake. Melinda is the best singer, technically, but she’s so boring. I guess that leaves Jordin.

  6. Travis Says:

I don’t understand the comments about Melinda being boring - she gives me chills she’s so good.

But to each ear it’s own sound.

I have retired from AI…. I am just so over it

Greetings! It seems it’s been an awfully long time and I was just thinking the other day whatever became of tiggerprr (especially since we have a new kitty in the house (pics on my blog).

I am favoring Jordin and Blake. The primary reason is marketability. Even before Lakisha went this week, that was the greatest issue. Who may be a better singer versus who can sell records and concert tickets.

My favorite guys this year were Chris Sligh and Sundance Head, but after them, it’s Blake. The beatbox thing can be done to excess, but at least he’s not copying Timberlake like Chris R. was. We have one too many Justin Tumberlakes in this world as it is.

Amy and I like Jordin for her youth, energy, and personality, plus she’s a pretty girl despite being a bigger girl. We actually saw her perform back in December when we saw Michael W SMith with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for Smitty’s Christmas show. Jordin was a back-up vocalist who was featured on solos throughout the show. Awesome.

I think Melinda is the best singer, Blake the best performer but I think Jordin will win. I’ve been reading online about a Jordin/Blake finale. I’m not so sure. I wouldn’t be surprised at who goes home this next week!

I wonder if Blake beatboxed his way through the Star Spangled Banner at the Mariner’s game on Friday?

How insightful for a cat! I totally agree with you on the first paragraph. And I’m betting we’ll see the answer to your question in the 2nd tomorrow night!
