A Special Favor For Me, Please?

Monday, August 13th, 2007

If you’ll notice over there on my right (only) side bar, underneath the BlogHer Ads that I force you to look at in the hopes that I can get make a little me money since my teenagers suck all mine away….I’ve installed a graphic link to The Animal Rescue Site. Supposedly, if you click their link once a day, the site’s advertisers pay them which in turn pays for bowls of food for homeless animals in shelters across the country.

Now, I’m not crazy (though some might argue that fact), but if I could, I’d take in every homeless animal I could because it breaks my heart to think of any little animal like my OC (who was in fact, homeless, until he found us) and Carma (who my husband adopted as an older cat from a shelter - kudos to him) out there alone, hungry and afraid.

Now I can’t say for sure that I know that by clicking this link that it’ll send money to provide money for the animals, but I know for sure that not clicking it won’t. So I’m clicking every day, and I hope you will too.

Thanks a lot for bearing with my begging, and I know that the animals are grateful for the people who help them. I know OC is everytime we cuddle.

Send Your Support…

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

My good friend, Desert Songbird, shared a little something her hubby sent her that requests us to send some email to the Marines out in Iraq. Now, I am of the train of thought that one need not support the war in order to support those brave people over there putting themselves in harm’s way. So, no matter what your stance is on this war, please take a moment to head on over there and take a few minutes to send an encouraging word or two. :)

My good bloggy friend, Bond has requested that we post a link to Dixie’s blog. Her son is going off to boot camp for the USMC on the 22nd. I try to do all favors for my good friends, so here it is Bond. I’m especially happy to do this, because as a Mom, I can only imagine the fear and pride Dixie must feel today. Good Luck Matt and stay safe! :)

Hijacked: Blogathon 2007

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

Hi all, Yoshi here, hijacking the blog and giving myself some shameless self promotion. :)

This year, on 7/28/07, I’ll be participating in the annual Blogathon. For those of you not familiar with this, it’s a worldwide thing where participants will blog every half hour for 24 hours. Yes, basically I’m staying up 24 hours to write about something on my website. This is my second year doing the blogathon, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be better prepared for this!

Why do this, you ask? By all means, it’s for a great cause. This year, I will be raising money for The Susan G. Komen for the Cure. As you all may or may not know, this is a really great cause, and I’m sure you’ve all seen the pink ribbons everywhere. For more information, please visit http://www.komen.org/

How does this work? Basically, it’s simple. You will become my sponsor by signing up on the Blogathon website and say you will donate a lump sum of however much you want to donate, and that’s it. When the blogathon is over, you will receive an email telling you where to go to donate.

Key point: you don’t give money to the blogathon people, only directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure directly, and only AFTER the blogathon ends. I have to post for 24 hours for you to make your pledge! make me work for the money folks!

Please feel free to spread the news! :)

tiggerprr edit: Hi folks! :) Yoshi didn’t mention one thing, your donation/pledges are tax deductible. I sponsored Yoshi last year donating to the same, very worthy cause. Not only did I get to help my friend support a cause near and dear to his heart, but I also got to deduct my donation at the end of the year! It’s a win-win! :)
